Cassie, Lola and me!

Postby mgood66 on Wed Dec 06, 2006 10:16 am

So far I am doing fine with Cassie (named after the role Donna McKechnie played in "A Chorus Line") and Lola (the role Gwen Verdon played in "Damn Yankees')--(Only problem I have is that they are marked exactly like twins except Cassie has a small yellow dot on her back--at least until she molts!) They will step up on a stick and I can move around with them--they will, also, 'ladder' up my fingers but will 'fly' off if I start to walk--but they sure don't mind pooping on my fingers!!! But their poop looks okay! LOL

When I separate them to train them they constantly call to each other--I feel like a meany! :o)

They aren't ready for 'cuddling' yet but I'm not pushing--want them to first get use to my hands.

They do have a band on their leg but I haven't been able to read it--will wait until they get more use to my hands.

I did mist them today and they seemed to take to it alright.

Stupid me didn't ask enough questions when I bought them--overwhelmed when I bought them! Would like to get exact hatch date, etc. Hatched at the store or bought from someone?

They have been eating and drinking since day one and yesterday they ate the romaine lettuce I hung from the top of the cage and nibbled on the corn wheels I put between the bars. They haven't touched the separate bowl of pellets but do eat the ones mixed in with their regular food.

Most important--from the moment I cover them at night until I uncover them in the morning there isn't a peep--even when I have the TV and lights on! And, so far, no 'night frights'.

So far, so good!
:D

Sounds like you are all doing great. Keep up the good work. You are making progress!! :)

I think once they are really, really comfortable, it will all happen very quickly.

I was lucky with Casper, she took to us immediately. I got spoiled real quick...hence...she got spoiled real quick!

Sounds like they are settling in. Can you go back to the store and find out more about their hatchdate?

As far as them calling to each other - get used to it. Sounds like they bonded to each other, and that will make it more difficult for them to bond with you.

    How old are they?

Were they DNA tested for sexing? That would be a sure way to know the difference betwee boys and girls and to tell them apart. If you have a boy, normal gray, his cheek patches will get brighter, his head will become more yellow and he will be more vocal with singing and maybe whistling tunes and talking, the female will keep her juvenile coloring, be quieter and more cuddly - of course this is all generally speaking.

I have a friend who had a male and female, the female started laying eggs even though they were in separate cages. When she tried to move one to another part of the house - the calling would not stop.

Also food wise, give them kale - mine loves it.
