One or two birds

Postby rradrobyn on Mon Nov 27, 2006 4:40 pm

I think that my Tiki was much happier being the only one. He kinda like Loki, but I have them in separate cages for now. Tiki seems to be a one person bird. Both are supposedly male, and Loki sure is a talker (younger too). So, I don't think one will be lonely, esp. if he is always in your direct line of attention. Always start out with one. I think two is my limit, now, with 6 dogs, 1 cat (declawed), and a fish!

Not sure if another one would give Casper someone to play with and occupy her time, but one is ENOUGH for me! She is so demanding of my time, I wouldn't have time for another one. I know my hamsters get less attention now that I have Casper! She is even jealous when I take them out and play with them.

Awww, I already know I want another cockatiel, maybe two. Woody is not very demanding of time-----he kinda likes having some time to himself I think, because he is still scared of coming out of his cage. He's coming around---slowly, but I decided when I got him that I wanted to give all my extra time to him for his first year here to get him tame, and so he will bond with people---learn to like us first, before I bring another bird into the picture. He is pretty good natured and easy-going personality, always happy, never grumpy, so I think there is a good chance he would accept another bird when I am ready to get another one.

the reason i got a second tiel was that i'm out most of the day. and it's only fair to joey he has a friend and companion even if that means he shows me a little less attention. These guys can live for upto 30 years and it's important there happy.
