Cute Or Strange

Postby theo streeter on Fri Dec 01, 2006 7:07 am

can anyone answer this question. For the last 2 nights my Joey has been doing something he has never done before and remember he's 8. When I go to bed I like to watch the news before going to sleep. Two nights ago joey decided to fly into the bedroom and sit on the bed next to me and watch the tv this seemed to me cute and i put him back on his cage before lights out. Then last night he did the same again this time sitting by my feet and watching the news with me. once agin I put him back at his cage went back lied down and in he came again. Has anyone experianced this before remeber his age and the fact he has never even been in the bedroom before.

Mine does this too. I also have a tiel that walks (not flies) into the living room to watch the news just like my husband would
you are a part of their flock and there fore he lis etting you know that they are a part of the "routine"(by flying into the bedroom)
give him a kiss and say "good night" and put him in is night night cage.

    Strange or Cute?

I don't ever think an animal is too old to learn something new. So, maybe he just has gotten to a new point where he wants a little more attention before bedtime. We always have our snuggle time before bed. We sit and watch TV with Casper or she sits on me when I am reading. It is our quiet time.

On a different bird note...I have 2 lovebirds also that don't have their wings clipped. Last night, I was sitting on my bed sewing. We had the lovebirds out flying around. Snowey decides to fly into the bedroom, do a few laps, then land on the TV stand. She has never done that before, never been in the bedroom. I know she comes in for exercise and to explore. Sounds like Joey might just want to be with you. :)

You are a member of Joey's flock and he just want to be with you. That's why he's joining you for some late night TV! :) Mine stays downstairs at night but I recently had to keep him in my room for a short period of time and he wanted to sleep on the bed right next to me. They're velcro birds!

    Hey folks,

Y'all are very lucky to have your kids stay up with you. All of mine start screaming to go to sleep before sunset.. today, it was about 4:50 PM. I'd love to have some of them stay up and watch TV or spend quality time with us. Talk about going to bed before the chickens!

Theo, that is great news about Charlie. I salute the both of you..

chibi-tori, do you cover their cages? I work later in the morning so I get up later. My husband is disabled and his sleep achedule is not much of a schedule. So we put her on OUR schedule! We go to bed late - so does she.

Since she's covered at night, the little bit of daylight that comes in through the window doesn't bother her. If she is tired later in the day, she'll nap with my husband.

    Luna Bella,

I do cover their cages, and have since I've had birds. Due to being ignorant about their sleep needs until about a year ago, I had them sleeping in my den, which kept them awake till on average, maybe 10 or 11 P.M. Expansion of the flock also prompted a move to a bedroom, as my daytime cage location is not good at night.
