You should take your cockatiel to the Vet as soon as possible and have her checked over in case she needs medicine to make sure the cuts and scrapes won't get infected.....birds can die easily just from going into shock from any trauma....keep her warm and get to the Vet please and let us know what he says.

It is usually not a good idea to keep parakeets and cockatiels together....even if they seem to get along most of the time.....you are asking for trouble....cockatiels are gentle birds....parakeets are more agressive and unpredictable when housed with cockatiels.

I hope your sweet little birdie will be alright....keep us updated

I very much agree with HarpSpirit, both on the need for vet care and for housing the two apart. You could set their cages up against each other, with favorite perches and food bowls back to back, so they still share close company. But let them play together only when you are there to supervise.

Even the vet will probably be unable to say for certain whether the feather follicles are too damaged for regrowth. But you will find her just as easy to love even if she is bald. From your brief description, however, my guess is that they will regrow. I hope so.

If you need help finding a good avian vet, post your location so we can help you.

I am sorry this happened. Paca

I spent most of the early afternoon comforting my cockatiel, and she seems like she's back to normal. She's just a loving as before, and I feel much better about the whole situatuon then I did this morning.

Very good news and you're right that punishment, as always with birds, would be completely inappropriate and ineffective. You and I were posting simultaneously, so please notice my reply above your own.

PR3DA7OR1AL - Did you get your baby into the vet? Just checking on the status of her health.

She is absolutely beautiful. How is she doing? Her head healing?
