One thing that I don't think was mentioned here, is that you shouldn't put cast iron cookware in the dishwasher. Or, I might have missed that. If you do, you'll have to re-season it all over again. It can come out rusty, too. That's one of the reasons we use stainless steel, instead of cast iron.

Cast iron cleans up easily enough, I just don't have the physical strength to deal with hand washing it. It's pretty challenging for me to just load and unload the dishwasher. For a normal, healthy person, this shouldn't be an issue, but I thought I would mention it. Hey, some people just don't like to hand wash dishes and that's ok, too! :D

Ha ha, it sure is a work out when you are using cast iron though! Who needs to lift weights????

Haha! I don't have a problem with lifting wieghts, or washing by hand. Most of the good expensive pans you buy today are not supposed to go in the dishwasher either. Lifting weights and washing by hand is a small price to pay for 100% safety for my bird, and also teflon and non-stick are bad for people too, so it's kinda worth the little bit of extra work.
