Bad news, good news

Postby christie on Sun Mar 13, 2011 4:37 am

Hello all. Just a quick update for everyone.

First, the bad news. Tweety has crossed over the rainbow bridge after spending 23 years with us on 3-10-2011. His failing health let me know it was coming, but I'm sad none the less. He spent his last days cage free and ruling the roost as he always has. Words really cannot express the hole that will be left in all our lives.

Now on to the good news. The same day, Caleb Daniel was born. I cannot upload photos easily from here, but I will at some point.

WELCOME Caleb Daniel !! You have tons of Aunties and Uncles here who will love to watch you grow.

Christie, he isn't Catherine Louise but I'd keep him. He is just beautiful. I can't wait for more pictures.

    Hugs and Kisses,

What a sad thing to have these two momentous things coincide :( Your emotions must be all over the place. Your new son will surely help you heal faster from your loss of Tweety. Can't wait to see a picture :) Congratulations!

I think sometimes it is harder when a pet companion passed on when they have been around for a long time. So sorry for your loss. :(
Congrats on the birth of your baby. A future bird lover? :D

Ever since reading this thread, I have a hard time getting it out of my mind! I'm sorry to hear of Tweety's passing, it's been many years that the two of you have shared together! I guess I was about 3 years older than you when I got Casey, and it's only been 10 years. I hope she's able to spend the same amount of time with me as Tweety has with you (if not a few more years!)

And a big congrats on the birth of Caleb! How is he doing?

Quick update while Caleb is sleeping on my lap, we've been up since 3:30.

Caleb was 8lb 1oz at birth, 7lb 11oz at his last dr appointment. He was 19 in long at birth as well.

I'm hoping he'll be a bird lover. Ash, my rescue tiel, is in love. He even chases his mate away from the baby. He will get close and sing away.

It's really strange not having tweety around. I keep expecting to see him, then remembering he isn't here. Thank you everyone for the congratulations and condolences.

Monica, so you don't have to guess, I was 11 when I got tweety. He was with me through first jobs, boyfriends, college, moving out to be on my own, marriage, and up to the first day I became a mommy. I'll cherish the cuddles he gave me rightbefore leaving for the hospital.

How sweet Ash loving little Caleb :D
Caleb was a good size at birth :D (and don't worry about him dropping a bit of weight, he will gain it again soon :) ) Hope all is going well for you and bubba and the rest of the birds.

Up since 3:30? Caleb must be a busy body! And it's rather cute that Ash loves him! Caleb is going to grow up with a little feathered angel, out to protect him! :D

Guess that makes it about 2 years difference [in age] then, between when we first got our tiels! It's been tough loosing birds that I haven't had as long as Casey, and can't imagine when the time comes for her. I keep thinking that I should get pictures taken of every part of her body, so I'll always have those photos on hand to remind me of every inch of her that I love!
