Adding pine shavings after egg laying

Postby jsams5059 on Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:35 am

My cockatiel has laid so far two eggs starting two days ago. I did not get the pine shavings in before, just bits of tolet tissue. If I add pine shavings now will the hen abandon the eggs? They removed most of the tissue I put in before laying and the eggs are on the bare wood.

You can try adding in some pine shavings, perhaps about an inch of it, but you want it to be concave so that the eggs do not get buried.
