Air bath - Silly bird

Postby kfay on Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:39 am

I was reading the paper this morning with Kura, as usual, except this morning there was a small fan blowing toward me. Kura sat in front of the stream of air and proceeded to "take a bath". He lifted his wings, fluffed his feathers, spread his tail, shook off and repeated. Over and over! Very silly.

Kura typically doesn't like baths. I spray him every week, and although usually he avoids it, sometimes he really gets into it. I thought he might want a real bath this morning, but no, he just wanted an Air Bath. :)

LOL!!! Indeed they can be goofy! I've actually noticed that a few of my birds enjoy air blowing onto them and will fluff up and preen, or at least fluff up if they've got a movement of air on them.

Mine actually loved to be blown on, when they do they spread their wings and stick their tail up and pretend to fly. So now between breaths I sing (badly offkey) "I Believe I Can Fly" and they go nuts. Its gets everyone laughing and the birds have a blast! Its fun to hear about how they tend to like similar things but the way they enjoy it or how the experience is a bit different is great.
