Sad little man...

Postby zoranni on Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:03 pm

Hi all...

just a quick note to my post the other day.

Zoran was quite closely bonded to Byrdie, and I would often find him preening her and showing off, dancing, singing, heart wings etc for her. Now... he hasn't sung since Friday other than little chirps to me, he isnt his usual feisty self and just gives up when we handle him (which is a blessing for my tender fingers from all the biting, but not at the expense of his happiness!!).

Have any of you got some ideas or advice on anything I may do to help cheer himup? I've tried whistling his favourite tunes, sitting with him and talking, lots of cuddles and scratches (which he used to hate!) but nothing is cheering him up. He is starting to light up a little when I come into his room and flies down to his feed now, but i'm worried he isn't eating without supervision either?

I can only think of perhaps playing some music, or maybe going to a video website, such as youtube, and try playing some cockatiel videos. I'm not sure if it would help but you could also try an avian full spectrum light.
