I was asked to do a talk on birds at the assisted living center (elderly housing) in my town. I was going to bring twill & Smitty my two clownish budgies for the show but when they saw the small cage ready on the table they refused to get in it. The small cage must mean "vet visit" to them.Meanwhile Button (my special needs tiel)was dancing around and just climbed into the cage. Whook my talking budgie went inside too. So I figured "what the heck?" And off Whook & Button went.
Whook clammed up when he got inside the assisted living center where as Button thought <"ooh wow new friends!" I took Button out and she sat like a good girl on my shoulder while I gave the presentation.I brought some frozen tiel and finch eggs plus a collection of feathers as show & tell.
The elderly ladies LOVED BUtton and BUtton Loved the attention! She hopped on some of the ladies shoulders and played with their jewelry. She got kisses and head scratches. Button was the star of the show. I was so proud of her!

Awwww, maybe that's just what Button needs......to go out visitting people like that! Woody and Boss both love going places as well! If a stranger comes over and talks to Woody, he gets all happy and sings.

Button is the super friendly tiel. Lucille, Fresh baby & Eddie will hiss at strangers. Linus will sing to you.
Button was sooooo cute. She really liked this one lady. She must of sensed she liked birds becaue she told me how she had parakeets

What a sweetie!! I took Dino in to get his nails and wings done a few weeks ago and he sang away while on my shoulder enjoying the attention from the other customers. Of course as soon as the grooming was done, so was the singing!!

That is sooooo cute! Button's little personality sounds adorable. Raisin is as tame as can be but is really only comfortable with my daughter and I. She is okay at the vets, because I think she is out of her element and curious about everything. At home, she is interested in other people and will step up to them, climb on them, but may hiss or peck at them if they try to touch her. Then she will just keep a watchful eye on them while she gets up in their face and loudly chirps and wolf whistles at them. It seems a bit of a nervous thing and she's definitely trying to say something. She's a spoiled baby so it's probably something like: "I'm in charge here, you just don't move and I'm going to watch you and stay here as long as I like, but don't you touch me!".
