So Sad...

Postby AzSummer on Fri May 08, 2009 11:05 am

I've selfishly put this off for a while and I can't do it anymore. Duckie needs a new home with someone who has the experience and time to give him what he needs. Does anyone know of someone who would like to adopt this sweet boy? He's 1 1/2 yrs. old and is free to an experienced mommy or daddy, I just want him to have a good home. Please help. I'm broken hearted but I'm not being fair to him by keeping him with me. Please don't send hateful or criticizing comments my way... I'm beating myself up enough as it is... I don't know what else to do or where else to go. If this isn't the place for it, just let me know.

I am sorry that you need to find a new home for Ducky :( I understand the stress that you are going through. I had two iguanas I had to give up for adoption because of medical issues at the time. I felt terrible about it but I knew this was the best choice for them. They went to home to a lady who had lots of iguanas :D I listed them on www.petfinder.com
Hopefully someone on this chat line that lives in AZ can help you out. Another suggestion is contacting an AZ bird club.Good luck

If you don't mind me asking, what is your reason for rehoming Duckie?

My ex-husband recently passed away--right after our divorce was final and before he transferred title to quite a bit of property. I inherited a lot of debt and have had to declare bankruptcy. (He was a business owner and had the means to pay those bills, I do not.) Since the breakup of my marriage I also returned to school full time as well as working full time and due to my money problems I've moved into a tiny rental with roommates and paper thin walls. I know I'm not devoting as much time and attention to Duckie as he needs and deserves and his singing/squawking/screaming are a problem for the roommates. I've really agonized over this but in the end I know that if I could find a good home for him with an experienced cocktiel mom and/or dad he'd be so much better off.

About Duckie... he's almost two, male, lutino, eats mostly Kaytee pellets, millet or avi-cakes occasionally, he's not hand trained at all but has a very sweet disposition... loves to sing (heartwings and all). We live in Arizona.

I'm sorry to hear things are rough. It has been for many people lately, and quite frankly, things happen, things out of our own control. Realizing that you can't care for Duckie the best you can and doing something about it is far better than ignoring the fact altogether. That only shows that you have his best interest at heart, and that alone says a lot. I wish you the best of luck in finding him a good home!

aw you poor love, I really do feel for you
I'm sorry I can't help, I live way too far to help.
If you'd been in West Oz, I would have been more than happy to have added Ducky to my flock :(
Good luck in finding him a new owner
