Crop stretching

Postby Luna Bella on Sat Mar 28, 2009 12:46 am

Dino seems to stretching his crop more then Luna used to. Is this normal or could it be a sign of illness? He was on 2 rounds of Baytril when we first got him - Dec - Jan and the vet said he was cleared up (was a lower resp. infection)

Like to know some thoughts on the topic.

Thanks,

Jo

is it the "yawning" you mean? And sometimes they shake their head a little and stretch their necks??
My birds do it after preening, it looks a bit scary, as if they're choking but it is perfectly normal, they get a little feather stuck in their throat.
I believe if a bird does it pretty much constantly though, that you could be looking at an illness.......

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will reply soon :)

Mine does that too .Button especially does it after being scratched on the head. I think it is pretty normal for the most part unless it is excessive which could mean an yeast infection
