dust busters

Postby bostonbudgie on Sun Mar 08, 2009 10:59 am

I go through dust busters just about every 3 months. I use it to vacume up the feather dust and seeds that at the bottom of cages and in corners on the floor. The brands I have used are black & decker and dirt devil because of their smaller size and the fact that they aren't as noisy as other ones I've used.
BUT regardless of keeping up with recharging them & keeping them clean they die in 2-3 months!
Do any of you have this same problem? and can anyone recommend a brand that doesn't die in just a few months! It's ridiculous! :o

what a great idea! I never thought of a dust buster. Chip hates the vacume cleaner. he goes to the farthest corner of His cage and will shake. I have been covering Him up but I still find Him in the corner when I uncover Him. Poor baby I do have to clean and vacume everyday.

I found the shark too noisy. I end up getting the small black & deckers because of their size & lack of loud noise but they kick the bucket after a few months.

I used the shark for the first time yesterday and Chip was not bothered by it . But the vacume drives him right into a corner. Go figure. :?:

I have the shark and it SUCKS it quit charging after 1 month of use ... I had gotten a new battery and charger it went kaput . I say stay away from them ... I vacuum every day so it is not so bad but we got a little bagless plug in vacuum from walmart (15 bucks ) and it does the trick for quick pick ups and stairs .. it is a bit on the loud side but not too bad .. it has all the attachments and fits the attachments for shopvac .

THAT is what has happened to the dust busters I bought. They do not recharge after about 3 months. I bought a stand up stick vacume from Walmart for about $15.00 for the wood floor BUT I am looking for a dustbuster(something I can get in the cages with) that will LAST for at least a year!

The little one is a bagless canister vac that ran about 15 bucks at walmart .. it has a hose on it that I could do that if I chose but I just find it easier to yank the cages onto the porch and power wash them . For the winter I use a little steam iron that is only steam to blast the crap off the grate and a small paint brush for around the inside to "brush up"
This may be worth looking at bagless vac click this for link
also worth looking into
I can not at the moment find the one I have and use when I need to but it is like these
only I paid 15 or so for mine it is NOT for carpeting per say because there is not a beater bar but , you can use it on carpeting (did that make sense ) there is an attachment for ulpolstery but it is not powered ... It is super easy to clean out ,and keep the suction ... If you have pets tho, other than birds be fore warned the hose can clog if not cared for ..
if all else fails a small shop vac with attachments may work they make it in a 1/2 gallon size I believe but they are not cordless .. My unit is not cordless either but it has a long enough hose to get in if I wanted to .. I vacuum daily so they are desensitized to the Rawer of the motor

Mine is pretty much an "El Cheapo" called a Dust Boss but might only be available in Oz........
I believe a cheap brand will probably do you just as long as an expensive brand, according to what our consumer magazine seems to think after tests..........
Breville and Ronson are popular brands here, do you get those in the US?
Using them every day and with bird feathers, seed etc getting sucked up, I think 3 months is probably all you'd get out of them :(

Hmmm..No we don't get those brands here. At least not in the Boston area...so far I've found the brands of dirt devil, black & decker and the Shark. Maybe you are right they all just last only a few months :x
