I remember when we just had Smokey and Coco. There were times when we could go 3 days without cleaning the cage due to seed litter, and since Coco was rarely ever in the cage, really only had to deal with poo from Smokey. Even now, when Smokey eats, he stays over the dish, and when eating millet, he tries not to waste a single seed. Really a "neat freak". Smokey would also clean his cage daily, scraping the dried poo off the bottom grate and off the outside of the feeder box. Of course, it would go in the floor, but it was always dry, so no trouble to vacuum up. Now, it's a whole new world. 6 kids, changing cage paper 2 times a day, running vacuum 2 times a day, dumping the waste seed, pellets, and veggies, and always picking up thrown out millet spray in front of the cage. Missy, Gizmo and Ginger all will pull a millet spray out to the edge of the door, then push it off into the floor. At that point, they will turn their little head sideways and watch it fall

That part always cracks me up too. Coco used to perch on a dish cabinet, and at times, I'd save feathers for whatever reason. Coco would find the feather, pick it up and drop it on purpose, just to watch it fall and hit the floor! She'd always turn her head sideways too, and you could almost see her grin from ear to ear, then look at us and seem to say "see, I did it again" or some kind of smart-alec chatter. Gizmo's big thing now is getting on the kitchen table, walk right to the edge, and look down and sort of under the table. Emi, my wife, will stick her big toe up right off to the side of Gizmo, and he'll jump and look startled, but he just keeps coming back for more, peeking under the table again and again

Makes me laugh to think of it! All the while, he'll cock that head sideways to make sure he sees with one eye -- so comical.
I'm still waiting for samples from Roudybush. I got an e-mail from someone, stating they would send out samples. The kids seem to be OK with the LaFebers pellets and Avi-cakes, but pellet size is a little too big, and I'm seeing a lot of waste when they crunch them, not to mention part of the pellet flying every which direction. Considering how much I spend on human food, the amount I spend on bird food is only pennies comparatively speaking. What really gripes me is the price of millet. Almost $5 for a bag of 24 sprays. I'll guarantee, I'll be growing my own next spring!
