hello all

Hello everyone!

I've been a member of Up At Six for a little while and have been reading a lot of discusions in the Caique Chat. Recently, I have started posting.
I was just wondering if all of you lovely caique parents minded me doing this as I do not own a caique.
After college I hope to get a white bellied from DJ Feathers Aviary, but right now it would just not be fair to the bird. I am, however, already doing research and have been for quite some time.
I also wanted to say that all of you "regulars" who always reply to posts in this forum (I'm sure you know who you are), seem to be some of the nicest people on the internet. You all have the greatest stories, and I absolutely love hearing about your birds. :D

Thank you for your time.
The best things in life are those who share it with you.

Hello,
Welcome to the wide world of birds! I see that you mentioned before owning some budgies, what a good start! Like you, I started getting birds at a young age. I got my Senegal, Juliah, when I was in High school and left her for a semester while I went to college, but I decided I couldn't leave her anymore so I moved off campus to take her with me! Now I am still in college and own my own place so I can have whatever birdies I can give love to! Now I am owned by 1 senegal, 1 BH Caique (Dweezel), 2 breeder pairs of Lovebirds (who are still my pets, not just breeders) 2 baby lovebirds, and 6 still handfeeding lovebirds. I also foster some occaisonal birds for a friend (an amazon and mustache parakeet right now).
Glad to hear your are doing the research on a WB Caique before you commit! Good luck with school and when you get your feathered puppy!

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement! I really appreciate it. :D

I was wondering what people's experiences were with keeping caiques in apartments. As far as my knowledge about this goes, it all depends on the bird and soundproofing! :D

I have had no problems. My neighbors were suprised to find out I had a bird.
Scooby can be loud, but its relative. When the beeps in my ear it just seems loud. Across the room its not bad.

I think that it is a great idea to join a forum before you actually get your fid. It will help you to know what to expect. I read for quite a while before I got my caique and although I had gethered a lot of knowledge before I got Yankee, I still have a million questions. The neat thing is, I know where to get some good advice.

It's nice to have you around!

Wow, that's great that they never knew you had Scooby. (That's a great name, by the way.)

I joined Up At Six as soon as I "discovered" the caique forum (back when it was in the old format), but I never posted until now. Still, just reading was/is helpful and the people are great. Hearing about everyone's fids is awesome.
Thank you for the warm welcome!
