Cooking Veggies

Postby KentV on Tue Jul 15, 2008 10:45 pm

My little guy really doesn't like most of the vegetable foods on the market. He doesn't like Kaytee, and others don't fare much better.

So, my question: Is there a soup or sauce I can cook his Veggies in that will make him go crazy--meaning he'd like the Veggies a lot better?

you know, you might try cinnamon. I've read its good for birds. someothers have just pretended to eat veggies and their little guys liked them.

Have you tried Beak Appetit? Or Mommas Birdy Bread? Crazy Corn? GoldenFeast? Volkmans?

Have you tried "Kitchen Sink"??? It's a blend of cooked brown/wild rice, cooked beans (15 bean soup mix without spice packet), plus fresh/frozen veggies (preferably 5 or so varieties, in 3+ colors), maybe some fresh fruit, or even sprouts!

Maybe even the 7 layered salad? http://www.aviannetwork.com/articles/salad.htm

Simply put, parrots like variety. I've noticed that my birds enjoyed eating fresh food, although some were picky. I started feeding the Kitchen Sink and they started digging in more ferociously to fresh foods! Even fresh foods fed thereafter! Some who probably never had fresh foods before I got them dug into the Kitchen Sink! Most birds take to that quite well!

There's *TONS* of recipes out there for you to try! And even The Healthy Bird Cookbook which has some great ideas and a lot of info about foods!

What's your feeding regime?
