I THOT....

Postby sweetpeaches on Sat May 31, 2008 11:29 am

bailey couldn't fly, until today. i was carrying him into my bedroom and something "spooked him" (found out it was the ceiling fan). he flew right off me across the room..i'm talking flapping wing flying! not gliding! then when i went over to get him he took off again..flew into the closet and hid under a shoe!!! :omg i've never seen him that scared and was doubly shocked to see him fly so well, since i just had his wings clipped on mothers day!!!! well, back to bp to get another clip!!

They aren't the best fliers but those little wings can flap so hard and fast that it is amazing. I have noticed that mine can go fast up not up. Peanut is like a little jet. The other day I took her to a nursery with me and something spooked her and off she went and landed in a baby flowering shrub. I wished that I had my camera, as she looked awfully cute in the pink flowers. She was only about 2 - 3 ft off the ground.

Cisco is fully flighted right now. He is learning the ropes and is getting better everyday. He goes up, down, and can turn circles. He is also getting better at landing where he wants. He has even learned how to go down the stairwell (two turns !!!) Unfortunately - he is aware that he can go anywhere he wants now and is getting himself in trouble with his Mother. She does not take kindly to birds landing on her China cabinet. She wants the boy clipped ASAP. I will have the vet give him a partial so he does not fall heavily. Also, I like his little flight feathers - they are so blunt compared with Huey's. He is up to 155 grams now - a 25 gram gain since we brought him home so the flying and other exercise has certainly put some muscle on him - he is very strong for such a little guy :D .
