Found a great toy/treat

Postby sandy on Wed Jan 23, 2008 9:03 am

This week, I just got around to giving Sparky and Mika some of the new treats they got for christmas. One of them is called Goof Balls. They come in packages of three and are basically a nutriberry wrapped in thin strips of rawhide so the birds have to pick around the rawhide or pull it apart to get at the treat. Both Sparky and Mika love them and Mika will play with them for a long time. She's our resident puzzle solver. Once the treat inside is gone I've refilled them by sticking walnuts or dried friut inside and pushing them back together. We've been on the same package of three for about six days now and every time I see Mika she's got one. She'll even play with and chew on the empty rawhide.

Just thought I'd share the latest favorite busy bird toy around here. Anyone else come across good toys and treats to keep the birds busy?

That sounds great! Where did you buy them? Can you order them on-line?

Those look really fun. I'll have to look for some for my guys.

A new thing I put in one of the cages has been fun. I washed a plastic yogurt container and put some popsycle sticks and a few little things in it. In the morning I heard Sassy knocking it around the bottom of her cage. She has chewed it and throws it around. I also saved the plastic tops from little butter containers to put a hold in and hang for them to chew on so I should get those out and get busy.

It's funny what they will play with, isn't it?! Brady LOVES any type of bottle (I have to fight to keep him away from any soda or beer bottles I'm drinking out of!). One day, I got home from a trip and had a mini Dasani water bottle with me from the plane. Brady immediately loved it, so I tied it up by the bottle neck in his cage. He batted it around like crazy!! :P

I don't know where they were perchased but chrism got the right ones. I'm sure you can find them a lot of places. Mika loves them and Sparky plays with them a little.

They do love bottles and bottle caps too!plane hunks of balsa wood are good for diverting Mika's nervous tendnecies. She used to go after the palm front strips but not so much anymore. They really like throwing things out of baskets. We have several that hang and a few that sit there full of toys waiting to be relocated to the floor.

ha ha... Lola loved bottles also! I had a small coke bottle so once I finished it I cleaned it out and put lentil beans in it and made a maraca! Lola loved to throw it around!

But seriously, any sort of bottle she'll attack and play with. She even likes tupperware! ANY size! She's throw it around! lol
