My son is a video game geek, he rarely goes out. If he was like me when I was growing up in and out I'd definately keep her clipped. Kids now adays lack the outdoor spunk that you and me had! We recently moved to a new home and he hasn't met any friends yet!

I have come to this conclusion with my caique, I will let her wings grow in and try it out! I have a metal screened door to keep her in when the doors open for circulation. I always knew that 2 doors would be better than one. Keeps the bird in ---and the bugs out!

With 2 dogs and a child needing to go in and out all day every day, your situation seems VERY unsafe for a flighted bird. If you "try it out" and it doesn't work, you've probably lost your bird in the experiment. Most lost birds survive only a short time, so it's not a decision to make lightly. I hope you'll reconsider, or at least use a door to the bird's room to keep her safely confined there rather than flying through the house with access to those exterior doors, toilets, kitchen, etc.

Cathy, recall is training your bird to fly to you whenever you call.
