what's your schedule like, and how do you make time for your bird(s).
I get up at about 6am, get myself ready, feed the birds, and dogs, get out the door at about 7:40........
My husband is home a good part of the day, and my kids are home for the summer, so they take the birds out periodically during the day, but they dont see me until I get home.......we get them out some in the evening too while we're making dinner, while we're watching TV......

What about you guys?
See ya,
Shari

I get them up at 5:30am and leave at 6:30am. I'm home at 5:00pm and they're up with me, eating, playing and generally causing a ruckus until about 9:00pm.
I try to spend every moment I can with them on the weekends.

I leave for work about 500 Am so my wife is the wake up person. Cisco get up about 745 and has his breakfast and morning time until my wife leaves about 900.

I get home from work about 330 pm so he is not home alone for long. He is very spoiled.

My husband is off to work very early so I am the one who gets them up and does the morning routine with them. On days when I am not working from home, I come down and start getting their food together between 6:30 and 7am. They ussually wake up within a few minutes of me coming downstairs. I try to get out the door around 7:30am. We don't get home until fairly late. We get dinner for the birds as soon as we get home and they are normally with us until they are ready for bed between 8 and 8:30pm. So on these days they only get about 2 hours of time with us, but they are out all the time, we don't shut their cage door even when we leave. This required some parrot proofing of the house but has made a huge difference. They prefer to have us around but they don't get stressed about being on their own anymore. No more biting, screaming or attacking one another when I go to leave. Also, I work from home most days and only leave them completely to their own devices a couple days a week. But, even when I am home, they are on their on their own for 3 or 4 hour clips since I disappear into our home office to try and get some work done.

They love weekends since there is more going on and we generally spend more time with them.

Hmm...interesting. Do they go all over the house? Or do they have a specific bird room they run around in??

Funny you should ask that...

Up until about 3 weeks ago I could say with certainty that they pretty much stayed in the kitchen, where their cage is, when we were gone. But that was before Mika could fly. The first week in July, just after Mika started flying, we went on vacation for a week and had a friend come and stay with the birds. With the occational help of our pet sitters she did wonderfully. Sparky and Mika were both very happy but had clearly taken to looking for us during the day. Our friend would sometimes come home from work to find them upstairs in our room or on their window perch in the small spare bedroom. She left the upstairs bathroom door closed and came home to it being chewed on. They also chewed a little on the woodwork around the basement door and the front door. All three are places we go and sometimes don't let the birds come with us. Since we have been home, they have stopped chewing the woodwork, thank goodness, but they still roam around the house more than before. They have taken to spending time by the front window in the livingroom in the morning and I have occationally found them upstairs when I emerge from the office, but they ussually stay in the kitchen.

I guess the easy answer is they have the run of the house, except the basement, but they don't roam too far from the safety of their cage.

Hi...I am a teacher, and so right now I am home, which is nice for Bella and me! When I am in school, I am up around 6:45. I get my shower and then go down and get Bella. She then comes back up to my bathroom with me, where she has a perch on my mirror. We both get ready together..We both preen! We then have a little snuggle time in my arms, and then we go down and I get her breakfast and settled for the day, and put her back in her cage. I leave the TV on for her. I leave around 7:45. I then am back home at the latest by 5- 5:30. She is out with me 100% until sundown, when we do our sleepy time routine and then I tuck her in for the night. She gets my full attention from the time I get home until she goes to bed. We have our dinner together, playtime, bath time, snuggle time....This seems to work well for us. Having that time together before I leave for work is special, and I think makes it easier for me to leave her. She really did great this year with me working. I was worried, but she did fine. Beth

I leave 6AM so my husband is the one wakes Juju up every moring around 6:30AM(except weekend). He will take her to the shower and get ready for work. I usually come home like 4PM and I will take her out. Then my husband comes home around 5 or so then he kind of take over while I prepare dinner. Jujube's bedtime is normally around 9ish. We usually cuddle before we tuck her in her tent. It's funny she will cuddle with me for few minutes then jumps to my husband then back and forth. It's like "I have enough of you" kind of thing! :D
