Hey everyone, I have been busy playing with my new fid. She is getting friendlier by the day. She hops and wrestles with me. I taught her the kissing noise and she whistles lots too. She hates her flight suit though. She sits there and picks at her feathers and picks at it. I have been only putting it on for 3 days though. At first 20 mins, next day 30 and today about 45 mins. She hates it to death. How long will it take for her to get used to it? Her hatch date is March 27 th by the way! If anyone has expierience with the flight suit let me know! Thanks guys...Nanc 8)

cute pic Nancy! SO cute, the suit looks adorable, but if she hates it ? Im sure she just isn't used to it, I mean what bird is born with one of those on LOL !!!
so you got her hatch date? My Dory is 2 days younger !!!
sorry, I can't give you any advice / help with flight suits - never used one. When I take my other caique outside (BHC) I put him in a smaller cage and cover with netting (to protect from bugs here in S.Florida) so, no chance of flying.

So, I didn't hear back from you, I was asking you if you got a pretty certificate showing Cookie's polyoma immunizations? Am I the only one who got that pretty certificate? LOL, I guess its not something you hang up and frame, but it looks like you should.
    See ya,
    Shari

What a pretty girl. I used the Feather Tethers on both my CAG and BHC. As a matter of fact I just purchased a new one today for the baby I will bring home in August. When I started to introduce it, I played with them just putting in on and off like a game. Holding them up and saying what a pretty bird or good looking boy when the harness was on - then connected it to the leash and after praise, that was it. I didn't put it on and leave it on for periods of time.
I then progressed to walking outside in the "sunshine" just onto the porch, then look around, and come back in. Everything was slow and I did not push it on days either bird seemed not to what to see the "sunshine" :D
Sorry, I don't about the flight suit, but if she doesn't like it you could try the tether...I bought the petite, at Petsmart, for 11.99 (higher than the last one :( )
good luck and scrinches to your little one.

    Cute pic!

Mika was introduced to the flight suit at the breeder but she hated it!!! We got Sparky into one once and he promptly got himself out of it. He reached around behind and pulled enough to get one wing free then flipped right out. Fortunately I saw it coming and got him inside before he realized where he was and that he was loose. We now have two aviator harnesses. We got them at christmas and have had Sparky in it once. He was very scared of outside but didn't seem to mind the harness. He now associates it with outside which he really wants no part of unless a cage is involved. <sigh> We took a break from them for a bit and I just started reintroducing them yesterday. Mika let me drape it over her twice today! Sparky is still suspicious and will throw it or move away. I think it is very well designed and they can't wriggle out of it once they are in, which is something I worry about. If Sparky got free I'm sure he would just run back inside but Mika would be gone in a flash. So no flight suits in this house and we'll see if the aviator gets accepted or not.

Cisco loves the outdoors but I cant seem to get the harness on him. he got panicky the first time the head part went on. Bit me good.Gonna have to be patient and take the slow approach. We have a screen on our porch to take up and down and he like being out but I want to take him for walks also.

Yankee loves to spend hours looking out the window buy he is just too scared of everything for either of us to enjoy it. I thought that he was going to have a heart attack the other day when 2 prop-engine planes when over low. I think that we will just enjoy the outdoors through the window. I'll count my blessings because he really is good about traveling in his carrier in the car.

Amazing how different birds can be from one another. Yankee and Cisco came from the same breeder yet Cisco is willing to try anything while Yankee sounds a little more cautious. I imagine Im in for more trouble than you Cathy.
