Does clipping your pionus not keep him away from the cockatiel? There are playstands designed to keep birds from climbing down. "Wayne's" are the first I think of by name. Do you know about his?

Pionus are among the most naturally territorial birds we keep in captivity. I would expect your bird to be no less aggressive with a caique than he is with your cockatiel. Despite how much larger a caique is than a cockatiel, I feel sadly confident that your pionus could kill them both if you allow him access, even by accident.

Caiques are not known for getting along with other birds. It would be risky.

As a baby it might be fine, but as she matures it would be risky. Caiques are more noted to go after your other birds, and they're very strong. We let both birds out at the same time, but they're at opposite ends of the wall, have supervision, and their wings clipped.

We've never had a problem between them, but enough body language that warns us to be careful.
