It will just take them time. When I got my last caique he was about 4 yrs old and didn't know me. He was very afraid - so I just talked to him softly. He would go to the back of the cage while I changed food and water. It took him about 3 weeks but he finally came to me and now he is just the biggest lover. He loves me to hold him and he is actually the most cuddly of all.

My black heads have black feet and the white bellies all have light feet, more of a tan color.

My first parrot was/is a female Pacific parrotlet. She is a wonderful bird. Parrotlets also make very good birds for people who live in apartments or a dorm. They are probably the quietest of the parrot family. They can be very affectionate and playful. I woud highly recommend a parrotlet as a "first" parrot.
