Yankee went to school with me today and I forgot that I had a dentist appointment so he went to the dentist office as well. He was a huge hit there, too. He is definately getting some exposure to more people.

ha ha ha.. thats cute! But it's good for him to be exposed to as much as possible!

I'm guessing people dont say "dont bring that thing in here!" ha ha ha...

I work at Linens N Things and its next door to a Petsmart..people bring in their dogs in the carts sometimes. Well a few weeks ago, a guy brought in his Macaw (I wasnt working that day). Well, aparently he was back by the lamps and the bird took off flying and knocked over a lava lamp! Made a huge mess. The bird didnt have a harness on or anything.

Yes, sorry to reply so late. The GCC is doing great! He/She actually chewed off the splint but it was healed by that time. It is still a little slanted to the side but he/she uses it great and will perch and play using the foot. Thank you for asking! There is an updated pic of him/her on my website under "Babies now handfeeding".

I am glad your caique is doing well with kids. Jujube doesn't care for kids. We do take her out to stores sometimes so she can get use to more "human"

My caique too isnt too sure around kids. Last year I took her to my fiance's aunt's house for Cinco De Mayo! They thought she'd add some fun flavor! lol So she was doing pretty well with the 3 young kids there.. she stepped up for them after a little while of getting used to them. I told the kids they had to speak softly and move slowly..they did ok with her.

She was sitting on her portable perch when my fiance's grandfather came into the room, he grabbed the perch and insisted the bird had to go OUTSIDE! lol ( he has alzheimers and he was insistent on putting that bird outside!) I quick grabbed lola off the perch and he took her perch! lol After that Lola had enough and wanted to go home!! ha ha ha...

I always wondering how Jujube "pick/choose" who she like or doesn't like. She would get on some of our friend's finger/shoulder first time she met but then she had bit few others as well. :?:

when we got lola at 3 months old she'd go ANYONE...that was the baby in her. But as she got older, she def. pick and chose who she was friendly with.

She was afraid of my friend.. he's a 6 foot black man! She wouldnt go to him if her life depended on it!

And she's so gentle even now with my grandma...if my grandma is sitting on the couch, lola will walk over VERY slowly, sit on her hand and then walk off. She wont DARE nibble at her.

I have a friend who is afraid of birds...she does ok with lola.. and lola actually moves slowly with her!

If Dweezel is handed to someone who is not comfortable with birds, or is not used to holding them, he gets nervous. He doesn't bite them, but he will look around for someone (me) and fly from the person. If a "bird person" picks him up, he will usually be ok, unless for some reason he doesn't like them, then he will fly away. If he absolutely hates someone, he has been known to fly around frantically, even once he dive-bombed a person's head.

The last time that I took Pepita to school, she actually surfed on some of the students. Of course, I work in a high school and have a 15 year old son, so it helps that the kids are older. She fell in love with one of my students who was wearing peachy orange nail polish and regurgitated for her. I had to remove her from the girl's hand b/c she was scraping at the polish with her beak. I am glad that I can take her, but we'll see if I still can a year from now when she is more mature.
