Bird poop smeared in that white fur...lol That must've been quite a sight.
My dog never notices any activity going on in the house unless it involves his humans, food, fun new people, or those evil dear that like to come into his territory. How dare they!
Scamp doesn't always act like the smartest little dog out there, but I think a lot of it is an act. I guess it must be a Bichon thing!

Michelle&Lola wrote:Ah yes potty training!! I have trained my BHC. I got her when she was 3 months old...so I started right away. I have a portable perch and use the tray from my small travel cage as the catcher.
I started by putting her on the poopy perch and telling her "Do your poopy" and kept telling her until she eventually went, after she pooped, I took her off the perch and she got LOTS of praises and I made it a big deal. Every 10 min. I do that... sometimes she'll go longer like 15-20 min between pooping. She's pretty good with it... she even says "Do your poopy" or she'll finish my sentence as I put her on the perch, I'll say "Lola, do your..." and she'll say "poopie!"

It's quite amusing when we're eating dinner and shes in her cage and she starts screaming "POOOOOOOPY!" We've had to explain to dinner guests! LOL

Or if she's on her playgym and she poops she'll say before or after "POOPIE!" as it hits the newspaper! Quite funny.

I think this is amazing!! I'm just about to go wake up my flock of two. I thought I'd try to train Sunny with one of those cheap plain white table napkins, hoping when he sees one toward his bottom and hears a polite suggestion, Poop!, he'll catch on.

Does this sound good? Would make things a lot easier around here. Splat! Splat!

Talking--your caique says a few words??? How great!! How many caiques talk, few...a lot?

Caiques in general are not known for their talking ability. Lola started young...probably at about 6-7 months or so. I have a friend who has a WBC and a BHC and they both talk. There are a handful of people on this site whose caiques talk. I guess it's the luck of the draw!

As far as potty training... I think they prefer to be perching when pooping. I know Lola does. She likes to hold on when pushing one out. lol

Jujube can say "popo", "juju" and "up"(at least that's what we think she sounds, heehee). She had said Hello like twice in 3 years we have her so far. I am trying to teach her says "mama" but it's not quite there yet. :?

Jujube is potty trainen on command but it sure would be nice if she can be trained to go to a spot by herself! :)
