Wow, it has been so long since I posted on here. It is good to still see so many familiar folks on the chat and some new ones too! For those who don't know me, I guess it's been about 2 years since I was active here. I had a baby (human not birdy) and somehow all my time to be on the computer vanished. Our two WBC are doing well. Sparky will be 6 and Mika 4 in march. It seems they have decided they are all grown up. Mika started laying eggs a little over a week ago. There are 3 as of this morning and both birds are incubating them though Mika is doing the bulk of the work. Sparky seems to be quite the proud papa! We have no idea if the eggs are fertile and won't know for about a week yet and then only if we can get a look at them. We're all pretty excited and very glad that she's been able to lay the eggs without any trouble. They both seem happy to let us help and haven't been aggressive at all. I'm hopeful that they will let us co-parent rather than having to pull the chicks entirely. I know Mika would love to be the center of a caique pile again! Until later (but no too much later ) - Sandy
Right now we're focused on making sure Mika doesn't push herself too hard, gets enough to eat and such. If the eggs are fertile, we'll have to see how they do as parents but we really aren't able to keep the chicks. We'll be looking for new homes for them and may see if Tammy can help with that. I think it will be great fun watching babies fledge and play.
I would love to know what homes you are planning. I have been looking for a wbc and would love to check the babies out. I am in VA as well. Let me know and good luck.
