Ok I don't know what I am doing so I guess you'll have to copy and paste the pictures. If someone knows how to put them in the message line let me know thanks :?

gym

Postby Cathy on Sat Nov 11, 2006 6:20 pm

I couldn't clip on it but I did copy and paste the url. Your gym is awesome. I bet your caique loves it. Mine is similar, but so far all Yankee does is sit on the top of it and watch me or eat. I've only had him a couple of weeks, but so far he hasn't shown much interest in any of his toys. So today, I went and bought some more toys. He has got to like some of them.

wow yours is very nice and big. It has a lot of room to play. I have posted pictures of mine a little while ago. Did you buy yours? My husband built one for Skittles. Here is the link to web page. http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l195/ ... %20ground/

Yes we bought ours, I have no imagination what so ever do build one myself  lol

Your skittles is so cute! He looks just like Spyro. How old is he? Spyro is three years old now. Kudos on building your own though. Ours looked like a tinker toy project but that is as close as we got to building it lol.

Cathy if Yankee has never been on a gym before just give him some time. He will definitely learn to love it. When Spyro got his first one we started off very small. But he loved it so much that we decided to upgrade him lol. Ornery little guy said he wanted the biggest he could get  LOL

Crazy Caiques LOL does anyone know of any good links for caique sized toys?? I have been trying to find some different ones.

toys

Postby Scootie on Sat Nov 11, 2006 7:16 pm

Hi,

There are so many places to get toys, but I have bought alot from Annie at www.exoticreations.com.

She makes very safe toys and I think the prices are reasonable. I order alot of the wood parts for making toys. My birds all love the 1/2 inch wafers and the medium wooden blocks. They can hold them with a foot and chew them up. I hang them sometimes but if I don't have time, I just give them each one when I leave for work and they love them because they can chew them up pretty easily. I usually ask for the undyed wood because my white bellies dunk the wood and have green, red or blue beaks when I get home.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yankee was used to a playgym but mine is different than his. This is the link to the gym that I bought.

Mine is the Tropical Treehouse sm/med

I like it because I can change things around.

Yeah they are so beautiful when they get their adult feathers. I will have to get an upclose of his back sometime. His back is almost neon green. Very beautiful!!!!! I love Skittles name though! It so fits a caique!

Kate, how very clever! I haven't learned enough about Yankee to build him a gym, but yours are incredible. Do your birds ever try to chew the ceiling? I've seem some ceiling protectors and I have hesitated to hang anything yet, but with the size of the his cage, I need to free up some floor space.

Did you just start experimenting with his gyms to build yours?

Kate that is so awesome!! Is your tree made out of manzanita?

Has anyone ever seen those giant spheres that hang. They are made out of cotton and I can' t find one. I know a lot of the cockatoo people have them, but I was a spyro sized one lol. If someone knows of a link please post it thank you.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, my playgyms are mostly made from Arbutus (Manzanita) branches.

I am not sure which "spheres" play gyms you are talking about - but here is a couple of good ones:

Hi Cathy,

My birds were good at first but then they started climbing up to the ceiling. I have ceiling protectors now - the ones made out of PVC pipe. They seem to work really well.

I bought most of my play gyms, except the tree. The tree was a huge Arbutus branch that a friend gave me. I put it in a Christmas tree stand and it was definitely my birds' most favourite play gym (especially when the leaves were still green). Joey spent hours taking the leaves off :-)
