talking caique

Postby matt on Wed Mar 25, 2009 9:24 am

at what sort of age could I expect Eko, my bhc,to begin to talk. Hes about 8 months old at the moment and often just chatters away but as yet hasnt said any words.
I understand Caiques will never be the most prolific speakers but im interested to know how successful other parents have been in teaching their caiques to talk.

Thanks
Matt

None of mine are very good talkers - but most words started about 8 months, maybe a little earlier. My most nervous and hyper little girl is one that says the most words. I found that whispering things to her seemed to be more fun for her. She would listen so carefully. We have ducks in our yard every spring - so last year I would say "quack - quack - quack" to her. Trying to make it actually sound like a duck. A few days later I heard her saying it. Sometimes when she is in bed I will hear her saying it - its usually about 6 quacks in a row.

    hey

Cisco started talking at around that age He is still learning new words and sounds He says "get your beak" , gonna get you", "hi buddy", " thank you" , "what are you doing" , " silly silly" and " bird, bird ,bird" Of course he will combine any of thees e into combination's that make no sense what so ever :D :D . The speech that they have is either guttural or high pitched. Cisco does both depending on whether he is mimicking my wife or me. Add to these words the boatloads of whistles and sound he makes and he keeps us very entertained !!!

Mine talks...she's 5 now. I got her at 2 months old and she started talking maybe around 8-10 months old. She says everything I say to her: Hi baby, whatcha doing?, Do your poopy, skootchie, Whatcha eatin" and she will combine those words to make crazy sentences. But she does use them in context. When she poops, she'll say "Poop poop poop! Or if you'ren walking to the bathroom, Lola will tell you to "do your poopy!"
It's fun to have another little voice in the house!
