I posted this on another forum a few days ago (tried to here, but had problems):
Well since I have had Petey (several months now) because he is so antisocial I have not bathed him. It was time for Charley (my tiel) tog et a bath so I put Charley on his swing in my shower and set the top of Peteys cage (with him in it) on the built in shower seat but there was a little bit of open space. Well Petey climbed out of it.....I think he was getting soaked! Anyway, after a bit him and Charley both flew tot he bottom of the shower stall and I squated down then put my hand out and Petey got on with a little encouragement! He sat there forever! I even stood up and moved around a bit! He did fly off and landed on my bathing suit, but I held my hand back out and he got on! YIPPEE! This is the first time he has basically voluntarily got on.....though under different circumstances.
I took his cage out of the shower and put it on the vanity on its bottom, now Petey is on top of his cage and does not want to get off and go back in his cage! I have almost forced him to get on my hand a few times in an attempt to put him back (but he did get on!) but he keeps hopping off when I start to move my hand toward the door. Oh well...he can stay in there a while. He will eventually climb back in his cage.
WELL TONIGHT, I POSTED THIS:
WOHOO! Petey acted like he watned out of his cage so I opened the door. He got out, climbed on the tiel's open door of his cage. I put my hand out and he HOPPED ON! And stayed for a little bit! Wohoo!
Then he got on my finches cage and climbed all over it, and he even got on my hand again from that cage! Then he hopped back on, and I noticed he acted like he wanted in their cage and then was nibbling on their treat bar through the wires. Then I realized his seeds are all hulled. So I filled his cup and held it while he ate! Wohoo!
