Did he eat that much cuttle bone?

Postby Mercy4Free on Sat Sep 22, 2007 7:06 am

I have had Petey (who people on forums think is a she) for about a week and half now. He did not have a cuttle bone when I got him (though he had nice toys, good quality seed as best as I can tell, good perches, etc.). I got him one and I noticed last night a HUGE chunk out of it. I thought maybe it had broke but there is no indication in the cage. Is it possible he ate about a fifth of the thing in less than a week? It is one of the normal size ones, not the little ones.

He even seems to feel better so maybe.....seems more alert and active than when I got him but I thought it was because he was settling in. I think I will give him a mineral block too.

Perhaps he scraped it with his beak and the powder wasn't that obvious in the cage ? Or maybe a piece got vacuumed up unnoticed?----Yogi
