budgies & african greys

Postby bostonbudgie on Tue Feb 27, 2007 9:11 am

I will be babysitting an african grey & senegal for three weeks.
Although I have the budgies in the dining room the grey & senegal will be in the kitchen. My budgies have free flight certain parts of the day for exercise. I am afraid they will try to go in the greys & senegals cage because they are naughty & nosey.
Do you think I should "trim" their wings so they can still fly somewhat but not as far?I think it would be mean to keep them locked up for three weeks.

No, can you block off where the grey and sennie will be? If not cover at least top of there cages so they can't get at the budgies toes if they should land there. The other would be to sit in kitchen, so you're there to keep an accident from happening.
Seems a shame to clip their wings for 3 weeks of babysitting.

naughty budgies

I am afraid the budgies will squeeze through the bars and tease the grey & senegal. My other solution is to put the grey & senegal upstairs but they would miss out on all the activity.

Only other thing would be to sit right there with them. Unless you let budgies out in a room where you can close the door to keep them in.
My budgies are always in my sennies cage. Eating out of his dish. They also push too close to the sennie and hahns. Thankfully they have only been caught by the tail a couple times. You think they would learn!
