I had been growing basil all year 'round in pots. Two of my bratty budgies recently discovered it and decided to chew on the leaves and chuck the soil around. My basil is now just chewed stems. I am assuming this is OK for them to eat. They have more energy then ever.
I want to make an attempt to grow basil again but I might have to bring the pots up stairs away from the budgies.
has anyone ever dealt with plant lovin' budgies?

I could not find Basil on a list of safe or unsafe plants. I did find one that said herbs like oregano, rosemary, thyme were safe.

I have little pots and get some bird greens from Drs Foster and Smith. My keets love them. I can't grow them fast enough.

Basil is fine for your fids! My mom's bird LOVES basil and rubs it all over his chest too. My budgie, Boo, love parsley and likes to have a 'bath' in a big wet bunch every evening!
