Hello! I usually post in the Cockatiel section, but thought I better continue my story in the Budgie chat section since this is about a Budgie! The first sad part of the story is in the Cockatiel section. Anyway, our precious little Budgie died last week and when I spoke to the vet, the lady told me about a friendly little rescued budgie that she was trying to find a home for. I was really against the thought at first, but have since decided that we need him and want him and I called her earlier this week to let her know that we'd like to give him a home. So, we are excited to say that we will be going to the vet's office on Friday where we will meet our little adoptee and get him a check up before we bring him home. All we know about him or her is that he is blue and was found with another little budgie at a "cat" rescue place (of all things) and seems to be very friendly and more interested in humans than other birds. We don't know how old he is or anything. He has been with this lady since around January and has been healthy so far. He and the other budgie went to one home (someone's grandmother), but was returned (sad!).
We are already trying to think of names and decided that we want it to begin with "R" so that it will match our cockatiel's name "Raisin" (at least in an alliterative sense). Also, this may help us limit our choices since we had a hard time naming our other budgie, nothing seemed to stick, we went through dozens of names, and just ended up calling him "Budge" (we only had him about 9 months).
I'm not looking forward to the quarantine part. I will ask the vet how long he thinks that period should be. I know they are supposed to be in a separate airspace, but that is hard to do. I am going to keep the budgie upstairs where there is a separate air conditioning system and possibly duct work, but can't be sure. Anyway, we're missing our little Budge, but still excited about the new one!

So, I will write again when we have brought him home and try to get some pictures sent out.
