Peach Face Black Mask Hybrid

Postby jippypop on Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:34 am

I was at a friends house today and she was pulling old eggs from her boxes. I notices she had a normal green peach face and a black masked blue love bird together. I actually opened one if the eggs and it had an small undeveloped chick in it. I guess I have 2 questions here: 1 should these 2 be breed together and 2 what are her babies going to look like? I think she said the peach face is the male.

Since they can hybridize, it means they are closely enough related to reproduce. However, this may result in offspring who have confused behaviors, because peachface lovebirds tuck nesting material in their rumps and blackface lovebirds carry it. I don't know of any health issues other than the fact that offspring are supposed to be sterile between the eye-ring and non-eyering groups.

Might be peachface x fischer?
