fisher/peach face babies!

Postby angipet on Thu Nov 06, 2008 4:12 am

i have recently aquired three "hybrids" (i guess they are called). I took them in because i met a lady at work who's lovebirds had babies and she had no room for their clutch. when i went to her home, i found three young lovebirds in a cage with the parents who were a fisher and the other was a peachface.
i cant quite remember if i read that these two species shouldnt breed (to keep the bloodlines "clean"), of if they couldnt mate?
(i did not purchase these babies! they were adopted out to me and i took them because i didnt want to see them suffer in a small cage)
well, my question is, they are all of the same clutch, and from what i can tell, one is a female and two are males. they all seem to be bonded to eachother and i dont want to have to seperate them if i do not have to. do you think they will try to breed and would the eggs be fertile?
i do not want them to mate and would like to see them live in the same cage. but i will seperate them if i have to.
*i did mention to this lady that she needed to seperate her parent lovebirds to avoid them from haveing more babies. not just because of the hybred situation, but mainly because she couldnt take care of the babies she had. i hope she follows my advise.
A true friend will see the first tear, catch the second, and stop the third.

    peachface hybrids are not fertile,
and there is no reliable way to determine the sex of baby lovebirds,
except for some the sex-linked mutations pairings, or DNA blood test.
