First, make sure you have a boy. I just bought another pair. 8 years old and proven every year to have two clutches every year. Their first clutch consisted of 9 eggs, all clear. AvianBiotech says they're both girls.

Use a carbon block water filter to get rid of the chlorine in your tap water. Give them lots of privacy. If you really want baby greys, keep them in a room by themselves with no conures, cockatoos, eclectus, macaws, anything loud. Other Africans would possibly be ok. Give them plenty to eat. Give them lots of variety and sprinkle some red palm fruit oil on their beans and rice every day. I even give mine some mealworms and they love them.

Are you sure these Greys are compatiple? Do you see them feeding each other?
If they are not compatiple then you will only get clear eggs? The hen may not like
your male or maybe he isn't interested in her?

    Maybe need to repair them?

Any good set up of a pair of breeders would suggest that you have them surgical sexed. Here the Doctor not only will be able to see if they are truly cock and hen, but also look further into the process and tell you if there are any other problems. I would suggest using Dr. Scott McDonald for this.

I agree with you Dutch, I think that all non producing pairs should be surgically examined. I, as you know had a similar problem with my wild caught pair of congos. Upon surgical examination by Scott McDonald, the female was found to have nodules on her ovaries and the chance that she would produce again was highly unlikely.

I as well have a wild caught hen that was found to have her ovaires dried up, similar to your hen (the last poster) by Scott.
I have kept her with her male and trying a few things but most likely she will never be able to lay again, but per Scott he
never says never, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have wormed her and I give her Prozyme on her soft food hoping that she can "maybe" blossom her ovaires back. The Doc
said he has seen stranger things happen, so I'm trying what I can? As long as she is not to old she may have a chance to lay
    again?

But yes I do SS everything I have because you never know what the Doc might find in there? DNA can not tell you the condition
of the bird reproductively speaking were as Surgically sexing can.

Anyone have any good exp with bringing a hen back into laying condition?

Scott also told me never say never, but my hen hated my male and started plucking herself so I had to separate them. Good luck to you Greyskyaviaies, I hope you find something that works!

As RJ will know, I recently had a baby Scarlet S/S with Dr. Scott. At that time I also had the blood work drawn for further testing with a lab of my choice. So after the simple Surgical Sexing procedure (less than $30.00 including a beak trimming, nails and feathers trimmed done with no stress because the bird was asleep anyway.) I sent in the blood work "knowing" what sex he was. This allows the lab to have specimens of S/S'd birds to coincide with blood testing (DNA) so their samples are concurred. It helps the lab and future participants having a current, up to date, DNA sample, verified. A control sample so to speak.

As for wild caught hens that dried up (Scott-speak... lol) yes I had one in the sanctuary. I never put her with a mate anymore. She was a pet-project from that time on. Those in our area who have the privilege of Dr. Scott never second guess him. Like the old saying... When Scott speaks everyone listens.

P.S. (Rj) Mojito is now in a wonderful home with Carolteacher (here in up @ 6) in Branson Mo. She is very delighted with her Christmas Present from her husband. And from what I hear has her hands full... he was a delightful Scarlet to raise and I'm happy he found a terrific forever home :)

Thanks RJ and Purple heart. I trust Scott and what I was trying to say is that he gave me
a tiny bit of hope. With nature one never knows but I'm going to hold my breath...

    Merry Christmas

We have a pair of Mexican Red Headed Amazons that cannot be SS. They each have one leg and as a result their internal organs are not where they should be, everything shifted to make up for the leg. Having it done could kill them, so it's not worth risking it. I think they are pretty happy being retired at the age of 9, LOL. I bought them with 1 leg, after hearing the story of how they lost their legs I had to have them, just so they would have a forever home together.
