Need contact info on Florida breeder

Postby stubbfam on Sat Nov 04, 2006 12:02 pm

Hi all, looking for information on a Florida breeder who uses bands marked "J&M FL ....". We received in a rescued B&G here at Home Forever Aviary in Illinois. The previous owner said that she and the bird came from Florida and that's where she had gotten the bird. The band is on the left leg, is a nice heavy closed band with "J&M FL 00" on it. The bird should recover fully and we're assuming that "00" is it's hatch year but.....? We would just like as much background information on the bird as possible. Also, if this helps, the original owner said the breeder called the bird "Blue". Thanks for any help. Rowena

For a small fee the people who make exotic bird bands can give you the information you need to start. One of the largest band maker is L&M Leg Bands out of the southern part of California. They always have an ad in the Bird Talk Magazine. Not sure but you might even be able to obtain that information on line as Bird Talk does have it's magazine on line now.

Best of luck to you in your search,

You can also see if the band is registered in the National Leg Band Registry at http://buddysfriends.com/registry.html. I have had recent problems loading the page though...
