What does 2nd generation, 3rd generation and so on mean

in lovebird breeding? I am hoping that this is not a stupid question, but have seen these things said in different ads when selling lovebirds. :?

    Second generation is when a bird reproduces. Third generation is when that baby reproduces. Just as with humans -- your children are 2nd generation and their children, 3rd.

    Thank you much! I thought this was the case, but someone told me it was when the bird was bred back to the parent. I was hoping that this was not the case. :shock:

    Usually when it's mentioned in ads, it IS inbreeding they're bragging about. Not good.
