Question for Red Rump breeders

Postby stubbfam on Fri Jan 18, 2008 12:27 pm

I'm asking this question for a friend.

She received a pair of lutino? redrumps. Supposedly they're a proven pair. Both birds are pure yellow, beautiful but pure yellow, no other coloring.

Her question is: Is the male still supposed to have some red on him? Or is it possible to have red rumps with no "red rump"?

Or, did she get took and end up with two females?

Thanks
Rowena

Unless the birds have red eyes, they might be pieds that are completely yellow. These birds are unusual, because the males might not have red rumps, and the females might have red rumps.

they both have red eyes.and one of them wants to breed, she will lower her head after the other preens her, and then get upset when the other does not do as she wants.

Sounds like you have 2 hens, which is still a good thing,
because using 2 good normal males will improve your
breeding program. Your babies this year will be split males, and normal females.
