electric wire cutter

Postby hkt8646 on Sun Aug 12, 2007 3:47 pm

Hi All!

not sure where to post this, but i thought this might be a good place. Does anyone know if they male electric wire cutters? I need to build a few cages, with 12 gauge wire and i would really like to use an electric cutter instead of the regular hand wire cutters.

Thanks
Ralph

We used an electric saw, were adviced to turned the blade backwards.

We also tried using a composit hard maderial that was made into a "blade." I think that was a bit safer, but had to replace the "blade" about 4 times.

Hi Ralph,

You can check with my friend Miguel Rocha who works for California Cage Works and see where they get theirs from. His email addy: Mianropeke@aol.com Please tell him that I referred you.

I buy my flush cut wire cutters from a company called Morton Jones. They used to have a catalog and I remember he was selling electric wire cutters. He's strickly online and phone sales now. I didn't see the cutters on his website so you might call him and see if he still sells them.

Best of luck!

Cutters

Postby Anthony on Sun Aug 19, 2007 11:00 pm

I use a hand-held metal grinder and buy the metal cutting wheels. Not only does it cut though the wire, but you can grind down sharp surfaces.

A metal grinder will cost $25-$35 and the wheels are $2-3 each.

Cheap and easy method
