Can u refer me to the cheapest Avian DNA Sexing available?

Postby MAGNA-DOUBLE-YELLOW-HEADS on Thu Jun 14, 2007 10:29 pm

I am looking for the cheapest place were I can send blood samples of my two baby Magana Double Yellow Heads. I had the name of a place in Tampa Florida who had cheap pricing, but lost the number, e-mail, and phone number. Please if someone can refer me to a cheaper place (charging less than $20.00 per bird) I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks and hope I can get some help!

$19.50 is for their blood DNA sexing, the cost is higher if you go with feather DNA sexing.

I have used Avian Biotech for almost 20 years. They have always been on the mark and very reliable. If you try beating the bush for something less, how reliable will the "company" be? Will you have to pay again if you think the test was messed up/wrong? I ask this becuase some years ago I bought a young Moustached keet that had not colored out. I had "him" DNA with Avian Biotech. The results came back as male. When the bird did not color out at the time I was told it's hatch date was I contacted them. They pulled that record and asked me to re-submit another blood sampel - no charge. It came back male again and 4 months later the bird colored out male. (The seller fudged on the hatch date.)

DNA

Postby vsnyder71 on Thu Jun 21, 2007 6:52 pm

I don't mean to sound rude, but you have Magna Babies which are rare. Why on earth are you trying to find bargain basement DNA testing? Even at $40 per bird, that is nothing. Avian Biotech is by far the best place; they charge $20 per bird.

Someone cutting corners raises a huge red flag.

I finally found It! Thanks for your referrals!

Postby MAGNA-DOUBLE-YELLOW-HEADS on Fri Jun 22, 2007 11:10 am

Thanks to all of you who referred me to AVIAN BIOTECH, but I found (two places) one in Ohio and the one I had lost contact in Tampa.

TO Mr. "I don't want to sound rude", VSNYDER71  , YES you sounded rude and you are rude. If you want to pay $40.00 or $20.00 per bird, go ahead That's YOU  !.

I breed in quantities and I love shopping around, saving money and getting referrals. That's ME  !

I don't appreciate your Rude and Offensive reply. I am not cutting corners and the HUGE RED FLAG you know already what to do with it. I wasn't even trying to sell you a bird. Please keep your offensive and rude replys out of these forums. If you want to assist and help then do so. If you want to offend and sound rude, and then place a comment like "I don'tn want to sound Rude", then please stay out and save your comments to yourself! You don't even know me Mr. "I don't want to sound Rude"!

Again to all of you who sent me a referral THANKS. I finally found not only one but TWO! They are highly respectable and registered Avian Dna Sexing Vet centers. One in Tampa, one In Ohio. The pricing is 5 to 6 dollars less and they send you the results both via mail and e-mail. If you want a Referral, let me know. I will gladly refer you without any offensive remarks for sure! Thanks ^@6 for your forum of assistance and referrals!

God Bless , and take care everybody!

Yes there are places that are cheaper. As a trial I used both of them.

I used birds that were proven pairs and birds DNA sexed at reputable companies. The place in Tampa had a less than 50% accuracy rating, you can do better than that by guessing.

The other place was a bit better but was only about 60% accuracy. They were opposite on most birds, they were both right on 1 and both wrong on another. We did both blood cards at the same time and sent them off on the same time and used the same birds.

So yes they are cheap but basically you get what you pay for. If you want to sell DNA sexed babies, please go with a reputable company. You would be opening yourself up to a lot of issues from those who pay for a DNA sexed female that turns out to be a male.

Where can I buy the cheapest Magna?

Postby vsnyder71 on Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:52 pm

Call me rude, call me evil; it is of utmost importance to get the best in everything for my birds.

From a buyers point of view; any Breeder asking for the "cheapest" of anything explains the principles of their business.

Do you breed birds for the love of the animals or the balance in your bank account? You need to ask yourself this question.

Good Luck and God Bless You.

What is with the nasty people tonight?

Postby Kerrie on Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:18 pm

Avian Biotech is the best, but Washington State University has it cheaper- $10. They also do all sorts of disease testing for cheaper, but you don't get a DNA certificate like the one from Avian Biotech. You get a letter in the mail with all the results from samples you send in. They also need much less blood than AB- just a drop instead of a circle full. The vets there are really nice too. You can just call them up and chat. Here's their site:

Good luck!
Thanks!

Thanks so much. and to Mr. Rude and now Mr. Devilish -->VSNYDER again, please stop the hate mail. I am not even selling you a bird!

Please stop your childish replys in this forum, and if you are of no HELP please don't reply again. I do breed for the love of my birds and it is not your business what I spend and even question anything from my bank account!

Get it! I am not selling you a bird. I think you are taking this way TOO personal.

So PEOPLE lets stop the replys in this forum. Thanks again but don't reply again as there's people like this VSNYDER that are like stalkers in this forums, and then attach a GOD BLESS YOU at the end of their devilish offensive replys who don't do good and instead are directly offensive to us who only want assistance. Please do send him a private message so he stops the offensive replys.

Take care and to all of you who replied in good faith THANKS.

Remember don't reply anymore as this guy is going CRAZY!

good night!
