i`m not selling theses birds i`m looking to see who will help them , i walk into a pet shop in goodland ks, asked the person there, where are your birds , he walks to the back of the store and turns on a light and in a corner there where 5 cages 2 cages of cockatiels, 1 of keets and 1 of a pair of doves an last a pair of dyh amazons he was gonna walk away when i said don`t you think it`s to cold in here for them , laughs and says yea i`ll turn up the heat,he then walk away and my children and i walk up to the cages to look , my heart hurt, the amazon had a hanging wing she was shaking i felt like i could feel her pain,
the water bowl was a soup of poop the cage had at least a month of dry poop all over, yet the keets where clean and so where the doves but the 2 cages of tiels where no better poop soup to drink no food and in 1 cage you could see blood on a few of them being there was 4 in 1 cage and 3 in the other way to small, i asked the person there why haven`t you taken care of the amazon , he replied oh where took her to the vet but there`s nothing we can do for her..... bull crap!!!!
then i asked him and when do you all clean and feed the tiel
his reply oh i don`t mess with them ,,(yea it shows)
they are selling the amazon 600.00 each and the tiels at 70.00
i don`t know who to look to for help in Kansas i can`t buy them
i do not have that kind of money , and please believe me i`m not a scam this is all true can anyone help them out ?
just a mother and bird lover in Kansas.

In most states, the Department of Agriculture has jurisdiction over pet shops and the way the animals are managed. Contact them to report this incident.
You could also contact your local Humane Society or Animal Welfare organization to see if they can act or advise you on this situation.
If this is a chain pet store you can contact the home office and file a report.
Sadly, this goes on quite often in private pet/bird stores, but with enough exposure is often times corrected.
You could also contact your local media and see if they have any investigative reporters that handle animal stories.
If you blow the right horns, something can be done about this.

    Good luck.

Very good advice! You could also right a letter to the editor with the newspaper and that should get in the paper, just right up an article about their poor conditions and ask to get it put in for the next printing...that should straiten the pet store up, that or it might run them out of business.
