Timneh eggs

Postby JustLibFree on Mon Dec 11, 2006 10:51 pm

I have a pair of Timnehs who are currently in the egg laying stage. I looked in on them this morning and I noticed 2 eggs so far. My question is that one of the eggs is approx. twice the size of the other...is that normal??
This pair laid an infertile clutch in October after being with us for only 1 1/2 months. They seem to be more comfortable with there surroundings now. Her first clutch was 4 eggs and they were all about the same size.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks

Normal? Not necessarily, but certainly possible.
Sometimes this occurs and, if the egg is fertile, it hatches right along with the rest of the eggs. It doesn't always indicate that there is a problem.
My only suggestion is to make sure the diet is rich in calcium and that they are receiving protein-rich foods.
I'm assuming you're experienced and that their diet is one that is appropriate for breeding birds.
