Historic Parrot ID

Postby Patti In Oz on Wed Jan 21, 2009 8:38 pm

Hi. I've been reading the Mitchner book "Alaska". In this book there is a fair bit about a man named Captain Michael Healy. There is mention of his pet parrot, but not of what type of parrot. So I've done a search and found a photo of the Captain with his pet parrot. http://www.uscg.mil/history/people/img/ ... PARROT.jpg I can't quite decide what sort it is. Any ideas?

Looks like some kind of Amazon to me but that's just a guess.

I'm going with Bev! It's an amazon parrot! Some sort of green amazon.... with a horn colored beak.

    Here's a larger image! 2900px × 2400px in size!
