I am back.

Postby Jeddy on Wed May 21, 2008 12:25 pm

I have been gone for a while, but I made my way back again. I only have Bodie my parrotlet as my cockatiel Bosco passed away from Oviduct carsinoma. I am still depressed about it all since I lost my dog last year around the same time. Anyways glad to be back.
The zoo includes:
Jed- The dog (In doggy heaven)
Bosco- The cockatiel (In birdie heaven)
Bodie- The parrotlet

Sorry to hear about Jed and Bosco. Sometimes it seems like everything is going great, and then we have to deal with multiple losses at once.

Darlene,

My parrotlet does not seem to miss my girly girl Bosco. They were not friends at all. It is so loney seeing a empty cage.

Fill the cage, there is always someone in need of a home. They are not replacements, no one can replace the friends/family we had but there is always someone in need of a good home and some love and to soon become part of the family.

Maybe you should move the cage to a different area of your home until you are ready to bring in another bird into your home? After I had to have my Triton Cockatoo euthanized, it was really difficult to see her empty cage also. Since her cage was so large, a friend helped me take it apart so I could get it out of the house and store it in the garage. Of course, it didn't take away the pain, but it did help to not constantly see that empty cage. It is still in my garage for when I am ready to bring another cockatoo home.

I think keeping her cage in the room helps me and if I ever do get another bird I think my parrotlet will still be used to seeing the cage in the same spot. Also I have her favorite toy in there and I am just not ready to take the cage apart. I guess then it would seem so final even though it is. I do have her ashes back and she is next to my dog Jed I lost last year. This may seem strange but I do smell her cage from time to time. Cockatiels have that certain smell. The smell is fading.
