Baytril has been prescribed for birds by avian vets for about 20 years now. I have used it off and on when necessary over all of this time and never had problems -- the birds got well which they were supposed to do. Just follow the vets instructions.
The only thing I was told was that Baytril should not be used for baby birds (I was given a prescription for Vibramycin instead for handfeeding babies). I have used Diflucan too but still prefer Baytril or Vibramycin.
PS: Every prescription medicine has warnings, whether used for humans or animals. There are always those exceptions that could have a problem. Some people are allergic to strawberries too. But most of us eat them with no problems. Check with an avian vet (not a regular dog/cat vet) for the best advice for your birds and you will be fine.
