Anything from TED causes me to think about the unlimited possibilities that we can accomplish. Take a few minutes and check this out. Its pretty impressive.

Joshua Klein: The amazing intelligence of crows

Enjoy,

The key to happiness is to avoid ever putting salt in your eye. Not matter how tempted and curious you may be, consider it unwise. Those who are still willing to attempt such a feat should at the very least have a video recording system handy so others may benefit by watching your mistake take place...

That was a great link! I'm going to keep that one in my favorites so I can check out the site regularly.

Animal Planet had the 10 most intelligent animals episode a few years back. Crows were in the top 10. Maybe #4 or #5? Parrots were rated #1. Of course, they used Alex as an example.

Although Crows are common thoughout the US, I don't know that I've seen them around my area. We have lots of Blackbirds (Grackles).

From what I've heard and observed, crows and bluejays were among the most susceptible to West Nile virus. Both were hit hard in my area, but are making their comeback the last 2 years. I see far more jays than crows thus far. My grey does a very loud and obnoxious crow caw when I close the door to his room so I can open an outside door without putting him into his cage. So, I haven't missed them QUITE as much as I might have without this spoiled bird nearby.
