If one of my birds started to bite me on a consistent basis, I would keep them caged while I worked with them. Out of cage time would have to be earned. I get good behaviour because I reinforce good behaviour and do not take it for granted. When I adopted Nikki, I realized very quickly that she would bite when she didn't want to be put down. So, I increased the time I spent with her (we are not talking a lot of time either but 10 minutes or so of one-on-one time). The biting stopped. It was that simple. Nikki was rehomed for biting and screaming. She does not scream either. Zazu was rehomed for screaming and she does not scream. Gypsy was rehomed for biting and she does not bite either unless you are silly enough to stick your hand in her cage while she is in there. These birds came with behaviours they learned from a human. As soon as they got to my place, I set them up to succeed by using positive reinforcement only. It is the reason I still have my birds. ABA is a powerful tool once you know how to implement it. I would be lost without it and my birds still have a home because of it.
