Mites from going outside?

Postby Nikki on Sun Mar 08, 2009 7:01 pm

As it gets closer to spring, I'm getting more and more excited to get my caique, Jones, used to the outdoors (in his harness.) Hopefully it will progress into being able to walk to the park, about 2 or 3 blocks away.

But I'm quite nervous that taking him outside, and letting him walk on the ground could result in him getting mites- does anyone have any light to shed on that? Is there a safe product to use preemptively if you are planning on taking parrots outside?

I wouldn't worry about your bird getting mites and definitely do not spray him with anything.
