Budgies and Pellets?

Postby green on Sat May 02, 2009 6:38 pm

I'm thinking about switching my budgies over to pellets, but I believe I read somewhere they are an exception and best kept on seeds. What are the long term consequences?

Seeds in themselves are not a complete diet. Nor are pellets. Granted, pellets *may* be healthier than seeds, some species do best with very little to no pellets within their diet. Some people are in the belief that small species should have no more than 50% pellets. Some of these species suffer from renal/kidney failure due to too much protein in the diet. Diet is a controversial subject, however, most would agree that a diet that includes grains, pulses, veggies, some fruits, sprouted seeds, and other foods is best.
